Shelby's Birthday

Talk about modern!  Nancy and I received an evite to attend our grandbaby's first birthday party - lol.  Of course we didn't hesitate to book the flight to Seattle. Her first year has flown by in a blur, but I think I froze some precious moments in still pictures, and will work on composing a small book to host them.

When we arrived on Thursday evening, Shelby was polite, but clung to her mom. However, when she saw we were still there on Friday morning, she decided we were family, and flashed us 100 megawatt smiles.

She loved the balloon bouquet I brought her... one balloon for each wonderful month of her first year.

Nancy made her cupcakes, and we were looking forward to the reaction to her first taste of frosting.

I guess sweets are an acquired taste. She greatly prefers Cheerios.

Shelby managed to pose for a birthday picture with mom and day, but still seems a bit stunned by the sugar high.

Fortunately, Shelby enjoyed her gifts more than the food. The pink hat was among her favorites...

as was the beer bucket once it was emptied.

But trying on hats and playing in the bucket come in a distant second to flying! Maybe she'll be a stewardess like her grandma.

Shelby's a big girl now. She can feed herself...

and even stand up all by herself...

but she was kind enough to pretend she was little and let grandpa cuddle her.

See you real soon, sweetie.
