We attended Shelby's birthday party in August, and it's hard to believe how much she's changed in 6 short weeks. She turned from a baby into a little girl, with longer hair, a bigger vocabulary (I'm officially "pop-pop" now), and a surprising sense of humor. Her favorite trick is to hold out something for me to eat, but as soon as I make a move for it, pull it away, stuff it into her own mouth and chortle.
Part of it's because she started school... a daycare... and learned new behaviors, like carrying a lunchbox.
She took her first steps on the day of her birthday, but hasn't walked much since. Nancy and I had a lot of time to spend with her, so we lured her into walking from one to the other, and when her parents came home on Sunday, they were amazed to be greeted by a full fledge toddler.
The weather in Seattle was terrific, so we took her to a different park every day. She likes the little cars on springs, loves the swings, and is a little intimidated by the slides.
We had a chance to audition two choices for this year's halloween costume. She'll either be a monkey or a dalmation.
Bye, Shelby, we'll see you at Thanksgiving.
